Jerry Lu crowns his grandiose, often hymnally celebrated live performances of recent years with the release of his debut album. “In Two Minds” presents eleven studio productions by the young pianist, recorded with his confident trio – while saxophonist Denis Gäbel joins him as a special feature guest on one of Jerry Lu’s five original compositions.

To put it “straight, no chaser”, directly and without detours: Jerry Lu has succeeded in creating a captivating album that is mature and well thought-out in every respect, rich in nuances and facets – a work full of subtle moods, rhythmic finesse and sophisticated arrangements. Lu confidently treads his sonic narrative path between straight ahead and modern, swing and groove, sometimes with furiously fast pieces, sometimes with delicately dabbed ballads in which every note seems to float.
